Dr. Jarod Spencer, DPM, is a new addition to the Kitsap Peninsula area. Coming from Oregon, where he lived for the last five years, Dr. Spencer feels drawn to the Pacific Northwest. He is excited to continue exploring the region.
Growing up in Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Spencer was exposed to city and country living, spending time gardening in his parents' backyard and on his grandparents' farm. He participated in several sports, favoring basketball, and competed in hunter's safety, education, and target shooting.
Dr. Spencer attended the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science and a minor in Psychology. He gained valuable experience as a member of the University's student-athletic training staff and worked as a nurse assistant in a hospital-based spine and orthopedic unit in Tulsa.
He obtained his medical degree at the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois. During his time there, he was elected as the Academic Vice President of his class and treasurer of the student chapter of the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management.
Dr. Spencer completed a three-year medical and surgical foot and ankle residency training in Aventura, FL, where he served as Chief Resident. He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Spencer believes in treating the whole patient and understands that physical, mental, and emotional health plays a vital role in both the pathologic and healing processes. He is interested in creating personalized treatment plans for acute and chronic foot and ankle injuries with conservative, non-surgical approaches.
This includes education on the cause of pain, the intended effect of available treatment options, and the utilization of custom orthotics and regenerative modalities, such as injectable biologics, laser therapy, and shockwave therapy. In some cases, a simple office-based procedure may also be offered.
Dr. Spencer is also interested in treating skin conditions, such as fungal nails. He takes a keen interest in his patients and is always ready to hear a good story.
In his free time, Dr. Spencer enjoys outdoor adventures, usually involving a good espresso drink, good music, and a countryside drive while in search of a watering hole for his dogs. He also enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking, foraging mushrooms, kayaking, puzzles, playing golf, and watching the Kansas Jayhawks.
